General Information

How do I arrange an appointment with you?

There are a variety of ways in which to contact me. Please feel free to contact me by telephone (please leave a voice message if I am not available) or send me a text message to enquire about an appointment.

What happens at a first session?

Reaching out for help can be difficult and I offer a brief telephone consultation (up to 20 min) or email free of charge for you to ask any questions you may initially have. During this short conversation I will endeavour to have an understanding of your concerns, how we might be able to work together, and for each of us to become aquainted without any commitment on your part.

If you would like to proceed with working together, you can then contact me again and we will schedule an apointment at a time that is mutually convenient. During the initial few appointments I will answer any questions you may have, explore your concerns through open conversation, develop a treatment plan tailored to your unique situation, and review other practical matters relating to our therapeutic relationship (i.e. contract, consent etc).  We will then mutually agree on the duration and frequency of sessions, and model of therapy.

What is the frequency and length of sessions?

Sessions last for 50 min and can be provided weekly or fortnightly. The frequency of sessions will depend on a number of factors and this will be discussed with you before we proceed.  EMDR sessions may last for 90 minutes due to the time needed for processing.

How many sessions will I need to attend?

As each person and situation is unique, I tailor my approach to help you identify your concerns and goals. Due to this, the length of therapy will differ between each client. However, I shall aim to work with you for the shortest time possible for you to be able to better manage what brought you to seek support in the first instance.

Where do you offer your sessions from?

I currently offer both online and face to face appointments. Online therapy allows you to arrange your appointment around your other commitments without having to commute to your sessions saving you time and energy. As long as you have access to a private space and internet connection you can have your session wherever you are. My face to face practice is located within a modern  multi-practice business centre that is easily accessed by public transport and close to the city centre.

How much are your fees and how can I pay?

Sessions are charged at £110 per therapeutic hour with the fee rising pro rata based on session time.

Please contact me regarding reduced fees. I offer reduced fees for trainees, bluelight colleagues, and charitable organisations

Each session can be paid for via BACS bank transfer. Payment is due no later than the beginning of the session and if payment is not received I reserve the right not to continue with the session. No further appointments will be allocated until this fee has been paid.

I accept self referrals and am registered with various insurance companies including AXA, Aviva, Vitality Health, and WPA

What is your cancellation policy?

I require 48 hrs notice if you need to cancel your appointment. If this notice is not received, you shall be liable to pay for any sessions missed. If payment is not received any further appointment will not go ahead until this fee has been paid.

What is a mentor and why should I have one?

Mentoring is a collaborative working relationship between two people where one guides the other to help them develop professional and personally. Mentors are useful to help identify when things are going well, to help you benefit from opportunities that present themselves, as well when things are more challenging. Mentoring can help in times of change, development, difficulties (relationship, stress, communication), and transition.
